Helping or Doing?
AI, homework & independent thinking.
A practical parent evening with Mohit Rajhans for school councils, parent associations and school communities.
At the kitchen table
When does help with homework become handing over the learning?
In the classroom
What does your school allow, and how can families support the same expectations?
Beyond the answer
How do we keep curiosity, judgment and the ability to explain our own work?
A parent evening people can use the next morning.
Proposed format: 60 minutes, online or in person. A 40-minute interactive conversation followed by 20 minutes of questions. Final scope and availability are confirmed with your school.
- Work through three everyday homework scenarios: explaining, drafting and completing.
- Practise asking a child to explain the process behind an answer.
- Discuss privacy, source checking and age-appropriate use.
- Build a family agreement that respects your school’s actual policy.
Take home: the Family AI Checkup, a conversation guide and questions to ask your school.
Five questions for your school.
- Which AI uses are permitted for this assignment?
- How should students acknowledge AI assistance?
- How will students show their own thinking and process?
- Which tools and accounts has the school approved?
- What option is available for families who do not use AI?
